IPHONE DIARY: KARNEVAL DER KULTUREN 2014

Last weekend was the Karneval Der Kulturen in Berlin.
It was by far the hottest day of the year, way too hot to be spending it outside actually. But no one cared, because when it's Karneval der Kulturen in Berlin, there is no other place to be than at the march on Sunday. I wanted to start my day of looking at some of the wagons pass by Südstern with Tissi and Gina, then meet up with my friends but I bumped into my babe Mehtap and a few streets down Carina instead, saw Aminata from Germany's Next Topmodel and lost Nisi in the crowd of the YAM wagon, when it all went to fast. I only had my iPhone camera with me because it was either two bottles of iced water or my DSLR camera in my bag and surviving KDK seemed more important than HQ pictures. I gotta admit though that my iPhone diary has a more personal touch to it. Turns out it wasn't such a bad thing I wasn't out without my camera.

THE NEW AND FIRST EVER ADIDAS ORIGINALS FLAGSHIP STORE

So my busy day ended with a party with my Adidas Family after the fitting at Levis and the Blogger Event with Pepe Jeans. Jacky and me drove in her Smart across town while playing a game of "How many girls can we fit in a smart without getting caught and stopped by the police?" In case you wondered, we made it safe to our destination without being cuffed. And the answer is 4.
Adidas Originals opened their first ever flagship store, one of more to follow that will open in major cities across the world and Big B aka crazy Berlin had the honours of premiering.
The new store holds treasures like Opening Ceremony x Adidas Originals, so many amazing pieces from the Jeremy Scott collection (I'm a huge fan of every single collection he has dropped for Adidas!) and many more selected items representing Adidas Originals best. Of course I had to check it out and say hi to all the familiar faces.
The store is filled with so many great pieces and I have to admit I'm growing fonder and fonder of their collaboration collections such as Adidas Originals x Farm (L.O.V.E!!!! I had my eyes on this collection ever since I spotted a few pieces in one of the lookbooks back in October at the Adidas Style Room and I've been waiting for news about this collection to hit my inbox. One word: amazeballs! And still on my wishlist). It was super packed and the music was at full blast, but I still had the chance to squeeze past the happy crowd and fall in love with the fashion in store.
My favs and major love for: Adidas Originals x Farm and Adidas Originals x Opening Ceremony. Jeremy Scott goes without saying ;)

A FITNESS CLASS WITH NTC - NIKE TRAINING CLUB - IN THEIR BERLIN HOUSE STUDIO

Nike NTC Berlin Lois Opoku lisforlois Nike NTC Berlin lisforlois Friday was actually my first time I entered the new Nike store at Berlin Ku'damm. I didn't make it to their opening because I was at lunch with The 7 Virtues and since then I haven't found time to check it out. On Friday I didn't go their to have a look at their new store or gear up on new fitness clothes (nothing keeps you more motivated than a pair of shoes, a new sports bra or the perfect fit fitness leggings right?) or Air Max 1. I was there to attend one of Nike's new fitness classes part of the NTC (Nike Training Club) program. Nike now offers, besides their really cool app with virtual trainers and progress tracking, fitnesses classes like yoga, Pilates, NTC, Core Strength, Dance and much more with real trainers in their own studio.

SEEK NO FUTHER POP UP STORE OPENING

Lois Opoku Seek No Further Berlin Pop Up Store Opening lisforlois Seek No Further Pop Up Store Opening Berlin lisforlois
Last week Seek No Further opened its doors to their new Pop Up store in the heart of Berlin Mitte. The store opening was quite a success, since the store was packed as Schwarz Don't Crack ?? for good tunes and the margaritas kept coming way passed closing time. Best margarita's ever! (Yes yes yes to melon and passion fruit margaritas straight from a slushy machine).
I enjoyed myself checking out the store during the press preview hours and had a closer look at the collection. I came back for the little welcoming party afterwards and even had a good chat with their London manager in the breezy night. Berlin's nights are becoming warmer and warmer. Hello Spring? (Let's not get too excited all yet. Don't wanna jinx it!) Perfect time to stop by for some Spring/Summer basics at their Pop Up Store. Seek No Further is the new premium line of Fruit of The Loom and offers clean cut basics and not so basic basics with a little twist made from different high quality materials. They are very experimental with textures and materials. A white jumper thats actually black but completely printed white? Or inside out jumpers? Already got my eyes on that slippers I saw and the dark printed dress. Definitely keeping Seek No Further on my watch list..

THE TAYLOR SWIFT CONCERT VIP EXPERIENCE WITH KEDS

Not too long ago I visited the Taylor Swift concert here in Berlin's O2 Arena as Keds' special guest among Anni, VreniMauri, Jan and a few media representatives. Keds invited us to come enjoy ourselves into their exclusive VIP Box (which is like a master suite of a hotel!) from where we had the best seats (they were even cushioned!) and had the entire O2 World in sight with just one glance. We were treated to delicious food and appetizers, great caesars salad and dessert, from which I had at least 10 - not kidding. And the champagne kept flowing as well. And shoes, lots and lots of shoes spread across the VIP Box, all from the upcoming SS2014 collection.

THE SPIRIT OF ISTANBUL FESTIVAL BERLIN 2013 WITH YENI RAKI

Yeni Raki the spirit of istanbul festival berlin lisforlois Yeni Raki the spirit of istanbul festival berlin lisforlois

My weekend started with a little journey into a different culture - the orient to be exact. Yeni Raki brought a bit of Istanbul's flair, its magic and culture to Berlin. Turkish delight, culinary specialities, belly dancers, performances, dances and music.. all of it! The Arena Berlin turned into an oriental bazaar for one night. The Spirit of Istanbul Festival by Yeni Raki, raki is a Turkish alcoholic bevarage, open its doors to the world of the Turkish raki culture and left room for us to stroll around and discover more than 20 designers and dealers showcasing their designs and products, try some raki and take our tastebuds on an oriental ride.
I got lost for a bit into this world with my friends, shaking my hips with the colorful and beaded clothes. How I love belly dancing costumes, made me reminiscent of my days as a kid when I used to belly dance...

HANGING OUT WITH INA AND DOGI

Hanging out Berlin lisforlois

This week I went for dinner with Dogi and Ina and we were joined by Ina's little sister and a family friend. We found a nice pizza and pasta place right at Eberswalderstraße. Don't know what it's called though. It's so good and really really cheap! You can get a full pizza for 2,50€ and it's nice to sit outside, actually right on Eberswalderstraße, watching Berlin pass by. It's so good that we went there again for dinner just a few days later.
Definitely a little insider hotspot for me!

I just sat there in the presence of my friends, observing Berlin and its people, watching them pass me by as the sun began to set. We even went for a night walk. Days like these and nights like these are so worth wile...

MBFW BERLIN FASHION WEEK: DAY 1

Twice a year there is this week that revolves solely around fashion. And it's called fashion week. 4 wonderful hectic days filled with nothing but shows, presentations, openings, cocktail receptions, launches and parties all in the name of fashion. This season was yet again pretty crazy for me.
Day 1. Here we go!

BALCONY SUMMER

It's Sunday, superwarm outside and I've slept off an entire week of fashion week frenzy. Between shows, openings, parties and amazing BBQs, driving a boat across the Spree, carrying shitload amounts of goodie bags, make up appointments, breakfasts, having enough of fashion and regaining my love for fashion, shootings, getting to meet new bloggers and my readers, seeing boring collections and some that blew me away, I think I can say this Fashion Week was good to me and I'm content with the fact that this crazy week has come to end.

OUTFIT: BREAD & BUTTER BERLIN 2012

During Fashion Week I found a free minute to check out the Bread&Butter fashion fair. I was really looking forward to come by since the last last visit (read: running through the entire place in search for the G-Star booth for the G-Star Show in attendance of sweet Clemence Poesy and running back out to catch my ride to be escorted back to the fashion week tent for another show) left quite an impression. I went together with Carina and Nisi, who was kind enough to capture my look of the day for me.
The Bread & Butter is a enormous fair with brands like G-Star, Mavi, Desigual, Adidas, Onepiece etc. being represented. It's a street style denim trade show and you must definitely come with loads of time on your hands to check out the fair.

BERSHKA IS COMING TO BERLIN!

FINALLY :) I got my favourite trousers at Bershka two years ago when I visited Italy for the first time and since then it's one of my shops I look out for when I'm on Italy holiday.
But there is no need because Bershka is opening NEXT WEEK at the Kudamm!

•••

3 shots from the Latin American Wagon I 3 Schnapschüsse vom Latein Amerikanischem Wagen:

If you don't have enough of money to travel the world to get to know different cultures, the Karneval der Kulturen is a nice alternative. And Berlin's diversity has a lot to offer - so many people to represent the different nations.
Sunday was my first time at the Karneval der Kulturen and I was in for lots of loud music, colors and prints, dancing and a lot of walking all the way from Südstern to Yorkstraße. Well, atleast the Ghana wagon was making it's supporters dance. It was nice to get to know more people from my country living in Berlin, especially the youth.(Funny thing is, you've met these faces years ago at random family celebrations or weddings).
And I was amazed by the massive crowd of supporters for Ghana, lots of Germans feeling at home in the Ghana crowd :)
At some point there were more Germans than Ghanaians dancing behind that wagon! Haha.

Ps.: I see that no post were posted during my stay in Florence. Oh well.. I'll just post them in the following days and the Florence pictures will be up as soon I've sorted them out :)
